As an event branding expert and custom stationery designer, I know a thing or two about creating jaw-dropping designs for your wedding. It takes a village to bring a flawless wedding to life, and your wedding stationery is a big part of creating a cohesive event! So today, I’m going to show you everything you need to know about the process, design, and cost of custom wedding stationery. (It’s really cool, I promise).

Step One: Research & Prep Work
A brilliant, cohesive design always starts with a conversation. I make a great effort to get to know you and hear your love story directly from you. Why? Because the tiniest detail might spark the most incredible ideas! I collaborate directly with you and your planner, working together to create a vision for your wedding stationery. (Some of my best work has stemmed from conversations with wedding planners who know their couple’s vision inside and out!) Once I have a feel for the vibe you want your wedding to have, I get down to business.

Step Two: Coordinating with Your Vendors
You’ll hear me say this a million times, if not more: your wedding is the result of collaboration between several wildly creative people. I will go above and beyond to establish a good working relationship with your vendors. I’ve even flown out of state just to meet a new vendor! Before I do anything else, I start communicating with your vendors to ensure we’re all on the same page. More often than not, one of your vendors will have a great idea, have worked with a specific material before, and have incredible input to add to the custom stationery process. We are always 10 steps ahead so you don’t have to worry about a thing.

Step Three: Sourcing Materials & Making the Most of Your Stationery
When I start sourcing the materials for your stationery, I begin by opening the conversation to all of your vendors. Once we’ve all developed an idea we like, I’ll visit the press in person to make sure our wild ideas are even possible. After I’ve got confirmation from you, your planner, and the press, I start bringing our ideas to life. Nothing is more exciting than getting to hold a piece of stationery in your hands after viewing it on a screen for so long!
Most of the cost of custom stationery comes from set-up costs, meaning the materials needed to make the press do what we want it to do. This is why ordering more stationery pieces is actually more cost-effective than only ordering a few! Plus, if I know we’re using an embossed monogram on the invitation, and that same motif will appear on the menu in the same placement and card size, I’ll plan a shell run. That means we emboss everything at once, ensuring consistency, avoiding unnecessary delays, and keeping the production process seamless.

Custom Stationery Design
Designing custom wedding stationery is so much fun, but it requires many moving parts. That’s why it is so important to work with a stationery designer who understands the value of efficiency, communication, and collaboration. Together, your vendors will create an absolutely incredible wedding day for you.
“Working with Claudia is a literal dream come true. Not only is she insanely talented, she’s organized and easy to work with. […] She pays attention to the details and goes to great lengths to ensure everything is perfect. I’m not one for hyperbole, but there isn’t a better stationer out there than Claudia!”
